Smart Places requests three Facebook permissions which are necessary for the app to function. These are listed below, together with an explanation of why the permissions are needed. 1) "Access my basic information". This is a standard permission and is currently only used to identify which checkins are from you (hence not needing notifications). 2) "Checkins". This is needed to retrieve the checkins of you and your friends, and to publish checkins when you are in Auto-Checkin zones. Note that Smart Places will not check you in anywhere unless you explicitly choose to do so, either directly or by creating auto-checkin zones. 3) "Access my data at any time". This is needed in notify you of friend's checkins, and to automatically check you in if you choose to create auto-checkin zones. Note that whenever you log out from Facebook in the app, none of these permissions are used.
